Quarter Moon Farm is all set for the winter; the garlic has been planted! Thanks to the helping hands and energy of family and friends, rows and rows of garlic have been planted.
Our certified organic garlic starts with planting organic garlic cloves and then using only organic straw to cover the rows. Organic fertilizer will be used in the spring. When the heads of garlic are harvested next year, some will go into our White Balsamic Vinaigrette and the rest will be fermented to turn into our black garlic and black garlic products.
Touted by many as a ‘superfood,’ black garlic reportedly helps to lower cholesterol and hypertension. Because Quarter Moon Farm’s black garlic is also organic, the health benefits are compounded. Black garlic also has antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties. In addition, it has a good amount of vitamin C and provides 18 essential amino acids.
